Bisquick Waffle Recipe Supreme on Back of Box
If you are familiar with Bisquick's bright yellow packaging, then you know how great Bisquick pancakes can be! But what if you want to make waffles instead of pancakes? Well, no problem! Making waffles with Bisquick is super easy.
While Bisquick might traditionally be used as a pancake mix, it also creates delicious waffles which makes it a perfect standard mix to keep around the house. There is, in fact, a waffle recipe on the back of the Bisquick box. And yes! It is different than the pancake recipe found on the box (check out our blog about how to make waffles with pancake mix!).
Betty Crocker (the company who makes Bisquick) recommends the following basic recipe:
Bisquick's Recipe from the Box
- 2 cups Bisquick Original Baking Mix
- 1 1/3 cups Milk
- 1 Egg
- 2 Tablespoons Vegetable Oil
Step 1
-Beat all the ingredients together (mix, egg, milk, and vegetable oil) with a whisk
Step 2
- Pour into a hot waffle iron or electric waffle maker and bake according to your waffle maker's instructions
What's Even Better than the Box?
Well it seems simple enough to make waffles with Bisquick! But is there a better way? Maybe there is an even better, more amazing recipe using Bisquick to make waffles? Why yes there is! While the recipe that Betty Crocker provides on the Bisquick box works just fine, but we found a way to modify and improve the recipe by making a few additions.
As we know from our research about making waffles from pancake mix, waffles require more sugar to make them a beautiful golden brown. So, to our Bisquick recipe, we have added a little sugar to amp up the taste and color of our waffles.
The Bisquick recipe on the box was also a little bit thick and sticky so we have added some milk to our recipe. While waffle batter should be thick (waffle batter should never be runny!), the Bisquick version was a little too thick and made the waffles taste a little dry. Adding some vanilla extract also helped with this and helps increase the yummy flavor of our waffles.
